To help students build confidence, responsibility, and practical business knowledge while supporting them through their university journey.

Program Aim

To offer two semesters of scholarship support, real mechanic and business training, mentorship, and a final graduation certificate once all levels are completed and passed.

Each level carries credits. Students must complete the task, show understanding, and pass the practical requirements before moving to the next level.

Level 1: Tide Tune-Up Basics

Vehicle Service Training — Practical Module
Understanding basic service procedures · Vehicle inspection · Repair kit and cleaning kit usage · Basic customer service during a service · Explaining the service to a customer · Completing the service in a professional way
Pass requirement: Complete a basic vehicle service from start to finish while showing professionalism and care.

Level 2: Coastal Custom Touch

Cosmetic Upgrade Training — Practical Module
Paintwork and colour change understanding · Rims and wheel style guidance · Window tint options · Spoilers and cosmetic extras · Helping customers choose a style · Explaining upgrade options clearly
Pass requirement: Assist with a cosmetic upgrade request and explain the options to the customer clearly.

Level 3: Wave Rider Performance Lab

Vehicle Upgrade Training — Practical Module
Understanding performance upgrade categories · Engine upgrades · Brake upgrade · Nitro upgrade · Turbo and performance-related upgrades · Explaining the difference between service, cosmetics, and performance upgrades · Handling expensive upgrade requests responsibly
Pass requirement: Correctly explain and complete a performance upgrade process while showing understanding of the value and responsibility involved.

Level 4: Sunset Service Desk

Customer Interaction, Calculations & Invoicing — Practical Module
Greeting customers professionally · Understanding customer needs · Calculating service and upgrade costs · Use of terminals · Explaining totals clearly · Handling customer questions respectfully · Communicating with staff and management · Closing off a service professionally
Pass requirement: Complete a full customer interaction from arrival to invoice, including correct calculation, explanation, and professional service.

Students must earn all 100 credits across all four levels to receive the final Garage-to-Grease SaltLab Certificate.

Graduation Drive-Off Ceremony

At the end of the two semesters, SaltLab will host a Graduation Drive-Off Ceremony to honour scholars who complete the program. As part of their final reward, each successful scholar receives a Special Vehicle Voucher to purchase a vehicle of their choice — a symbol of their achievement and the next chapter ahead.

ROUND 1

Applications Open

Students submit their applications and motivations through the SaltLab website.

ROUND 2

Shortlist

Finalists are chosen based on effort, need, attitude, ambition, commitment, potential, and respect for the opportunity.

ROUND 3

Rooftop Scholar Night

Finalists attend a classy scholarship evening at the SaltLab rooftop, sharing their goals and why they want to become a Scholar.

ROUND 4

Winner Announcement

Scholars are announced live with recognition and photos. Only four students per semester are chosen.

ROUND 5

Two-Semester Support

Scholars receive their Student Pit Crew title, benefits, and access to all four learning levels — supported until completion.
